A train station manager is facing charges in Greece and a transportation chief has resigned following a deadly head-on collision between a passenger and freight train.
A transportation minister has resigned and a station manager has beenfollowing a head-on crash between a passenger and freight train that has left at least 57 dead, with officials fearing the death toll will rise.
"We can see that there are more [bodies of] people there," Fire Service spokesman Yiannis Artopios reportedly told state television."Unfortunately, they are in a very bad condition because of the collision." Firefighters and rescuers, supported by two cranes, search through the wreckage in Tempe on Thursday following the train collision.
Transport Minister Kostas Karamanlis has resigned in the wake of the crash and his replacement has been ordered to set up an investigation into its cause.
