Macaloney's Island Distillers dominated the 2025 Canadian Whisky Awards, securing multiple Whiskies of the Year titles and a number of gold medals. The distillery's founder, Graeme Macaloney, was also recognized as Blender of the Year.

“We are beyond thrilled…” said founder Graeme Macaloney, describing the results for the local distillery as “amazing” and “unprecedented.”The awards ceremony, held annually since 2010, happened on Thursday, Jan. 16, during the Victoria Whisky Festival at the Hotel Grand Pacific in Victoria. “We’re grateful to the Canadian Whisky Awards and all the experts who helped to elevate Canadian whisky’s reputation globally.”Judge Davin de Kergommeaux described Macaloney’s winning Canadian whiskey, the Peat Project Moscatel Barrique single malt, as “remarkably well balanced.”
The panel scored each whisky in blind tastings “based on ranking criteria that reflect the industry’s highest standards,” reads the awards website.
