Scotland won its first world men\u0027s curling title since 2009, knocking off Canada\u0027s Brad Gushue rink in the championship game Sunday.
An emotional Gushue broke down in interviews following the game, fighting back tears, as he talked about the “awesome” and “overwhelming” experience.
“I enjoyed every moment of this week,” he said. “I enjoyed how the crowd really embraced us and I felt the appreciation from them, and it just made me emotional.” After blanking the first end, Mouat made an impressive double takeout in the second end to score two. “The championship was great to play in,” said Swiss skip Yannick. “The teams are so in form and I guess to medal in a field like this is not a gimme at all. So we are quite happy to have a medal. We had such a strong round robin and we would have liked to take it a step forward.”
