Eagles looking for their first section title in 48 years next week vs. Ramona in Division II. Senior QB Nico Tomasello passes for two touchdowns for Granite Hills.
For the first time in 43 years, the Granite Hills Eagles are headed back to a San Diego CIF football championship game.
Sophomore Isaiah Pablo Jackson scored a touchdown just 1:12 into the game as the Eagles needed only four plays to get on the scoreboard against the fifth-seeded Marauders. Following a quick three-and-out for Mira Mesa , Granite Hills scored on a fourth straight possession when senior Colin Riley hauled in a 56-yard bomb from Tomasello with 6:52 to play in the first half.
However, Granite Hills’ rock-solid defense, led by Grossmont Hills League Defensive Player of the Year Jordan Glaze’s second-down sack back to the Eagles 30, kept the visitors from adding points at the end of the half.
