Girls basketball: Grand Oaks tops shorthanded Magnolia West in unusual finish

Magnolia West dressed just six players. It lost point guard Faith Matocha to an injury in the second quarter as she didn’t return. It then had Sarah Vance foul out with seven points under the two-minute mark of the third quarter. But it got to a point for Grand Oaks coach Shikiea Carter to just dribble out the game so either team didn’t have any further injuries.“Early foul trouble with Riley kind of slowed the momentum of the offense down,” Carter said. “We just never could find . The ball never bounced our way, really. Even in those moments, you sort of have to gut it out. I think that’s what we did to get through the first half up by two.
