The Harpa Conference Centre, where many of the trip’s meetings and panel discussions took place, is less than 500 metres from the Hotel Borg, the 93-year-old luxury hotel where the Governor General and her entourage stayed.

“You know the feds spared no expense when the Governor General could have bought a brand new BMW, drove it around the island and then left it outside the airport with the keys inside and still saved money,” Terrazzano said. The itinerary did feature walking as a means of transportation — a briefing by Canada’s Ambassador to Iceland Jeannette Menzies at Canada’s embassy, a seven-minute, 300 metre journey on foot.
