The Trump weather wars are raging on, with top government scientists blasting the politicization of storm forecasts after President Donald Trump repeatedly claimed that Hurricane Dorian posed a dangerous threat to Alabama.

But Uccellini was hardly the top public servant to push back on the president’s deployment of government spokespeople. The Washington Poston Monday that NOAA’s chief scientist, Craig McLean, in an email to employees the night before, said that not only was NOAA’s Sept. 6 statement incorrect but that its political nature probably broke rules on science integrity.
