GOP Sen. Lisa Murkowski to oppose allowing new witnesses in President Trump's impeachment trial, indicating the motion is likely to fail
WASHINGTON—The Senate appeared likely to end President Trump’s impeachment trial without considering new witnesses or documents, as Democrats were set to fall short in their effort to pick up key Republican votes.
Friday afternoon, Alaska Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski, who had been on the fence regarding new witnesses, said she would oppose the motion, saying she didn’t “believe the continuation of this process will change anything.”
