Utah Gov. Spencer Cox on Thursday declared he would not be voting for his party’s presumptive presidential nomineeBut in the same interview, Cox confusingly said he still wants former President Trump “to succeed” and for his party “to win.”
“I haven’t voted for the top of the ticket since 2012. I’ve certainly had my concerns, one of those is what happened on Jan. 6,” said Cox. “I’m hopeful, I want my party to win,” he continued. “They chose a candidate this time around that was not my first choice. Wasn’t my choice last time, either, but the party’s spoken and that’s who they have chosen.”Cox said he was “very anxious” about who Trump will pick as his running mate, because it could make “a big difference” to his campaign, and said North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum would be his choice.
