Quidditch Canada will formally launch its rebranding of “quidditch” to “quadball” in February, aligning with international counterparts who began the renaming process last year amid J.K. Rowling's controversial comments about the transgender community.

Harry’s first quidditch match in a single afternoon of writing. The real-life game, first played in 2005, combines elements of dodgeball, rugby, handball and a bit of wrestling. It requires a team’s chasers to score by throwing a slightly deflated volleyball, called a “quaffle,” into any of three hoops on the opposing side of the pitch while a keeper defends the hoops and beaters use dodgeballs to try to knock out opponents.
