Troubled times as Indigenous police services fight for funding Northern Ontario Indigenous policing services say they could run out of community funding within the month if deadlocked negotiations with the federal government are not resolved. The political bodies overseeing the police services, including the Indigenous Police Chiefs of Ontario , state their negotiations with Public Safety Canada are disingenuous, and based on a funding system that discriminates against Indigenous people.
Community summit planned for opioid toxicity crisis in Sudbury The Sudbury health unit board of health will be asked this week to vote on a motion to hold "a local leadership summit on the escalating drug toxicity crisis." The motion was outlined in the pre-agenda for Public Health Sudbury and Districts’ regular monthly board of health meeting on June 15.
