“She definitely broke a couple of clubs already … Tantrum, after she missed it a couple times,” grinned Wie West, who made a stop Monday in Calgary to headline Blakes Women’s Day at the Shaw Charity Classic. “I haven’t put them back together yet because she needs to learn that you can’t break golf clubs.”“Genetics, you can’t fool ’em.”

That message will stick with Calgary’s Georgia Barr, now preparing for the 2022 Canada Summer Games and then headed south to start her collegiate career at Gardner-Webb University in North Carolina. She offered advice for balancing homework and practice, for managing the pressure of trying to make the cut and stressed that while it sometimes feels during a funk like you’ll never hit another good shot, “it’s really not that far off, and don’t forget that.”Article content
