- According to the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Peru , gold production in Peru, the world’s tenth largest gold producing country, was 8,880 kg in August 2023, up 8.3% compared to 8,196 kg mined in August 2022.

MINEM said that this positive performance was primarily due to increased production reported by Minera Yanacocha , as well as Consorcio Minero Horizonte and Compañía Minera Poderosa . At the company level, Minera Yanacocha sits first accounting for 9% of total gold production in Peru, followed by Compañía Minera Poderosa and Consorcio Minero Horizonte .

At the regional level, La Libertad kept the first position accounting for 32.1% of Peru’s total gold production, followed by Arequipa and Cajamarca . The ministry also reported that gold production in Peru amounted to 62,280 kg in January-August 2023, virtually unchanged compared to January-August 2022 .
