Apple TV+'s Godzilla series has tapped WandaVision director Matt Shakman to helm the first two episodes!
Apple TV+'s Godzilla series has found its director in Matt Shakman. Since Godzilla vs. Kong was a box office hit, becoming one of the first major successes following the COVID-19 pandemic, Legendary Pictures has been looking to expand the MonsterVerse franchise in a big way. A sequel to Godzilla vs. Kong is in development with director Adam Wingard returning, and a Skull Island animated series is in the works at Netflix.
According to Variety, WandaVision director Matt Shakman will direct the first two episodes of the planned Godzilla series. Shakman will also serve as executive producer. The series follows the aftermath of Godzilla's fight in San Francisco as the world discovers the existence of giant monsters. Much like the MonsterVerse's big screen adventures, the series will intersect with the mysterious Monarch organization.Since WandaVision, Shakman has been in high demand.
