Go Auto has acquired Merlin Ford Lincoln, a Saskatoon, Sask. dealership with a history tracing back nearly 80 years. Merlin Ford Lincoln opened its doors in downtown Saskatoon in 1946 as Mer-Lin Motors — a nod to the Mercury and Lincoln brands it sold. The store was purchased by William Bews in 1981, before the dealership moved to its current location at the north end of the city. Jason Bews eventually took over management of the dealership from his father.

Go Auto President Phil Abram said the Bews family has done exceptional work building up the store over the years. “Their steadfast commitment to excellence and the community is inspiring and we are humbled to have been chosen to continue their legacy,” he said in a release. In addition to adding the Ford store to its portfolio, Go Auto purchased Canada West RV & Truck Centre as part of the deal. The new- and used RV retailer is located next door to Merlin Ford Lincoln on Idylwyld Drive North in Saskatoon. It was also previously owned by the Bews family.

The two retail locations mark the dealership group’s first footholds in Saskatchewan. It now has 53 new-vehicle dealerships across five provinces and territories and one U.S. state. It also owns five used-vehicle stores in Western Canada, five RV dealerships, and two collision centres.
