“Other tournaments in the world do run mixed events,” said tournament chair Dale Goehring. “But there’s nobody currently running both male and female pros and amateurs together.The purse has been expanded, as well, with $65,000 up for grabs for a field that features five returning champions, 23 members of Team Canada and 53 first-time participants.The low 30 females to survive the integrated cut format after 36 holes are guaranteed prize money, with a maximum of $1,200 awarded to each amateur.
“It was great to win last year,” said Ciot, who played in a U.S. Women’s Open qualifier last week. “It’s always the goal when you show up, and I was able to do it. I want to win again, but I want to beat my score from last year. I shot 1-over for three rounds, so my goal is to shoot under-par.”Article content
A total of 40 males — but not 2022 winner Matthew Anderson, who just turned pro — are chasing the Glencoe Invitational title.
