Giorgio Armani presented its Spring-Summer 2027 womenswear collection in Milan as talks begin on the sale of a 15% stake, one year after the designer's death.
Giorgio Armani previewed its Spring-Summer 2027 womenswear collection in Milan on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026, a year after the designer's death, as the company prepares to begin talks on the sale of a 15% stake stipulated in his will.
The collection carried the signature Armani elegance on the runway while, behind the scenes, the future ownership and creative direction of the fashion house drew fresh attention.
The stake is to be sold within 18 months, with LVMH, L'Oreal and EssilorLuxottica named in the will as preferred potential buyers.
Armani Stake Sale Talks Set to Begin
Chief executive Giuseppe Marsocci said Armani left no favorites among the three companies and that the stake could potentially be split among all of them.
Marsocci said the will allowed discussions to begin only after the first anniversary of Armani's death, but declined to confirm whether they had started.
Asked about the assumption that talks were underway, he said it may have some logic.
The process marks a significant moment for the Italian luxury group, which Armani built into a global brand over decades and kept under his personal control.
The sale conditions were set out in the will to preserve continuity after his death.
Creative Future Under New Appointments
The recent appointment of Dario Vitale as head of accessories at Giorgio Armani and creative director of Emporio Armani has generated interest in the fashion house's creative future.
No date has been announced for his runway debut. Asked whether Vitale's role could expand, Marsocci said everything was evolving and that from here into the future, you never know.
Silvana Armani, the late designer's niece and longtime head of womenswear, led the collection presented on Sunday.
The show was titled Evolution, a theme she said reflected fashion that everyone can wear.
Evolution Collection Blends Day and Evening
The womenswear collection for next spring and summer deliberately mixed daywear with evening looks, with sparkle running through both.
Lean, fluid trousers and long dresses shaped the silhouette, often paired with rigid bodices.
Silvana Armani departed from her uncle's legacy in one important way: incorporating cotton, a textile she said he did not like but which she adores.
The tribute to the late designer was most felt in two pieces: a recreation of the formal double-breasted Communion suit that Armani wore when he was 8 years old, and a graphic jacket bearing his smiling image.
Models presented the creations in Milan, and Silvana Armani accepted applause at the end of the show.
The collection underlined the delicate balance facing the house as it honors Armani's legacy while preparing for new ownership and a new chapter.
