The New York Giants are hurting while the San Francisco 49ers are on a roll. Here's what to look for as Week 3 of the NFL season gets underway Thursday night.

Defensively, they would like to see edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux show some of the spark that made him a training camp sensation. The No. 5 overall pick in the 2022 draft has been missing in action since the season started, recording only four tackles, including one solo.As for the 49ers, they rank seventh in the league offensively and 12th overall defensively and have looked like a potential Super Bowl team right from the get-go.
They are sparked by one of the game’s best runners, Christian McCaffrey, who has scored a TD in 11 straight games, including the playoffs — one shy of Jerry Rice’s franchise record. McCaffrey’s 268 yards rushing are the most through two games since DeMarco Murray had 285 for Dallas in 2014. Wide receiver Deebo Samuels had six catches for 63 yards and five carries for 38 yards and a TD last week, marking his first regular-season game with at least 100 yards from scrimmage since Week 4 against the Rams last season.
