The 112-year-old property is the only historic beachfront hotel in the state of Texas, and continues to have ghost sightings year round. The ‘Ghost Bride Ball’ is happening at the hotel this Saturday October 28th, in honor of Audra, the Ghost Bride of the Grand Galvez who waited for her mariner groom to return.In the mid-1950s, she always waited for him from her room at the Galvez, Room 501. When she heard his ship had gone down, she had no other reason to live. She made the decision to go with him into eternity and hung herself in the West Bell Page 2 of 4 Tower.
