The program helps people"get their feet wet," but the goal is to transition participants into full-time farmers. “I want people to both be able to grow what they want for their community, and I want them to do it in a way that they can continue to live the lifestyle that they want,” said Rodgers. The production cycle is the process of converting raw materials into finished products. It involves planning, sourcing materials, manufacturing, quality control, packaging and distribution."Sometimes people realize it isn't for them before the program is complete, and that means sometimes we have leftover product," said Rodger.“Starting a farm alone feels daunting, but through this program, I was able to discover what locally grown cut flowers can look like here in Newfoundland.
