A man who spent more than 16 years in prison in Florida on a wrongful conviction has been fatally shot by a sheriff’s deputy in Georgia during a traffic stop

A man who spent more than 16 years in prison in Florida on a wrongful conviction was shot and killed Monday by a sheriff's deputy in Georgia during a traffic stop, authorities and representatives said.

“We’re devastated by the news of his tragic death, and we don’t have any further comment at this time,” Miller told the newspaper. Cure was convicted of the 2003 armed robbery of a drug store in Florida's Dania Beach and sentenced to life in prison because he had previous convictions for robbery and other crimes.
