ContributedCHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — After a two-year absence from the ice, the George Trainor Hockey Classic is taking place in Charlottetown this week.“We’re very excited to be able to bring back this fun tournament for players and families.
The tournament’s namesake, the late George Trainor, was a longtime coach, volunteer, and builder of minor hockey locally and provincially. “It takes a lot of volunteers to pull an event like this together, so we’re very happy with the response that we’ve gotten. There aren’t a lot of minor hockey tournaments geared toward teams at the A level, so the George Trainor Hockey Classic is special and means a lot for the development of minor hockey,” said tournament co-chair Zack Bell.
