George R. R. Martin has spoken about the upcoming EldenRing, describing the opportunity as too exciting to turn down: 'This offer was too exciting to refuse. Miyazaki and his team from FromSoftware were doing groundbreaking stuff with gorgeous art.'

George R. R. Martin, author of A Song of Ice and Fire, has described Elden Ring as being too exciting to refuse, something which many fans of the upcoming FromSoftware game likely agree with. Elden Ring is due to release in just a few weeks' time, and will take players to the Lands Between for yet another tough-as-nails fantasy adventure.

One of the most highly-anticipated releases of the year is none other than Elden Ring, which will combine the skills of game director Hidetaka Miyazaki and fantasy author Martin. Martin has lent his talents to the game's story and lore, with a rich history of the world and its characters already teased by the game's official website and social media accounts.

"This offer was too exciting to refuse. Miyazaki and his team from FromSoftware were doing groundbreaking stuff with gorgeous art, and what they wanted from me was just a bit of worldbuilding: a deep, dark, resonant world to serve as a foundation for the game they planned to create. And as it happens, I love creating worlds and writing imaginary history."

Fans have already gotten a good look at the game thanks to updates that have revealed more about its world and characters, but it could be argued that nothing whet player appetites more than the November Elden Ring Closed Network Test. Some users who applied for a code were selected to play the game during set hours over a weekend, giving players the opportunity to experience Elden Ring first-hand.

Martin's words on Elden Ring have also helped to fuel hype for its upcoming launch. After admitting he doesn't play modern games, it's not clear if the writer plans to delve into the title himself, but it's very possible seeing as this is the first time he's collaborated on a video game outside of the world of Game of Thrones.
