Tuesday whether to make Gavin Newsom the second governor to be recalled in the history of America’s most populous state over frustration with his handling of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Polls open at 7 a.m. Tuesday. Voting has been under way for weeks after all the state’s 22 million voters were mailed a ballot under new rules adopted during the pandemic. At least 8.7 million ballots, representing 39% of the state’s electorate, had been returned as of Monday evening, according to data firm Political Data Inc., which compiles information from county registrars.
