The Senators went into the break on a four-game winning streak and, ideally, they’d like to pick up where they left off. Coach D.J. Smith and the rest of the staff returned to Ottawa Wednesday to begin preparations for the remainder of the schedule. That can’t be confirmed until the Senators have had a couple of days to see him on the ice but his return is imminent. Getting Zub back would help stabilize the back end and the hope is he can stay health the rest of the way.
A groin is a tough injury for a goalie because of all the movement involved, but if all goes well, we could see the 35-year-old Talbot as early as Feb. 17 against the Chicago Blackhawks. Greig has shown good maturity in his game and unless he starts to struggle then he won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. The Senators would rather have him honing his game in the AHL, but with Josh Norris out for the season there aren’t many options available.Article contentHe’ll be brought back to dress as the backup to Anton Forsberg, but there’s a good chance Sogaard will make an appearance during this stop in Ottawa.
