The plan, initially, was to allow buyers access to the website for a month and then start the bidding process early in 2023. NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and deputy commissioner Bill Daly were also cognizant of the fact people didn’t want to do business over the holiday season. There will also be a copy of the organization’s memorandum of understanding with the National Capital Commission for a new rink at LeBreton Flats.
Sources say Reynolds is trying to get his ducks in a row to make sure he, and his Los Angeles-based production company Maximum Effort, are ready to take the next step. Whether that means Reynolds put his own group together or aligns himself with a current bidder remains to be seen. The NHL wants Reynolds as part of the purchase because of his Canadian roots, his ties to the city of Ottawa, his popularity and the fact that he’s also business savvy.
Farmboy chief executive officer Jeff York has put together a group of local investors to partner with the new owner. We’re also told Patrick Dovigi, 43, the chief executive officer of waste management company GFL and a former OHL goalie, is in the mix. Dovigi has signed an NDA.
