SAINT PAUL, Minn. — The Ottawa Senators came out flat and unfortunately their drought in the State of Hockey continued.

The club opened this trip with a 6-3 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday that moved them to .500 at 14-14-2. A win here would have moved the Senators into a tie with Detroit in the standings with 32 points. “The third period was better, but clearly they were laying off and playing defensive. The Senators scored three power-play goals Saturday against Detroit, but went 0-for-3 in this one. The club has been on fire with 20 power-play goals in its last 13 games since Nov. 23rd and was operating at a 37.7% success rate. With back-to-back games, the Senators went with Anton Forsberg in this one. He had posted a 1-3-0 lifetime record against the Wild with a 2.53 goals-against average and a .924 save-percentage in four career starts.
