Andlauer arrived at the tourney with outgoing Senators’ governor Sheldon Plener and spent the day at the 16th tee doing a closest to the pin contest with the participants. All the funds raised were for the foundation and it was a chance for Andlauer to meet some of the club’s sponsors. “I probably shouldn’t be here, officially, but this is an important day and I didn’t want to wait a whole year to address you,” Andlauer told the crowd. “This kicks off our season for our players, our staff and training camp starts tomorrow so this is an exciting time for all of us here in Ottawa.Article content
He spent time at the Canadian Tire Centre this summer and has also had at least one sit down with captain Brady Tkachuk since agreeing to the purchase. It’s believed they met last month before Tkachuk participated in the ALS fundraiser to honour assistant coach Bob Jones in Windsor. Andlauer has held a 10 percent share in the Montreal Canadiens since Geoff Molson purchased the club in Sept. 2009. An alternate governor and the owner of the Ontario Hockey League’s Brantford Bulldogs, Andlauer will be the managing partner in a group that includes several investors.
