LA Mayor Eric Garcetti said today that large gatherings like sporting events and concerts are unlikely to occur until 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic
OAKLAND — Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti said Wednesday that large gatherings like sporting events and concerts are unlikely to occur until 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic, a major blow for one of the world's major sports and entertainment capitals.
. That email included a summary written by a Los Angeles Fire Department employee of similar statements made by the mayor during a city meeting.“Nothing I’ve heard would indicate that we’ll be in those large, thousands-of-people gatherings anytime soon, and probably not for the rest of this year,” he told Blitzer.
"I think we all have never wanted science to work so quickly," he said. "But until there's either a vaccine, some sort of pharmaceutical intervention or herd immunity, the science is the science.”
