It’s Orelvis Day, and as you can see in he header photo, he’s excited about it. After being called up earlier this week, Jays’ #2 prospect Orelvis Martinez will make his MLB debut tonight, playing second and batting eighth behind Addison Barger, who’s been rounding into form since his recall from AAA a week ago. Let’s hope it’s a preview of a bright future for the Jays’ infield. Otherwise, it’s been a fairly quiet day in baseball.
The Jays will have freshly recalled Yariel Rodriguez on the mound tonight. He’s been dominant in his rehab outings in Buffalo over the past month, so hopefully he’s healthy and ready to go tonight. I suspect we’ll see him go 3-4 innings and be piggy-backed with a multi-inning Bowden Francis appearance. Carlos Carrasco will represent the Guardians. Cookie is a shadow of the pitcher he was during his first eleven year stint in Cleveland, with a fastball that’s down to about 91 and a 5.
