Residents have packed the pavilion for this year's Giovanni's Italian Festival; attendees are enjoying live music, dancing, and all the tasty Italian dishes and sweets

The familiar sights, sounds, and smells of one of the Sault's most prolific cultures has returned to the Roberta Bondar Pavilion this weekend.

Rooted in tradition, the festival honours the contributions of Italian immigrants in Sault Ste. Marie, celebrating their resilience and values. New to the cultural celebration this year is Carmen Cavaliere's custom-built porchetta roaster. The gigantic piece of machinery can hold up to 200 pounds of pork with a cook time between five and six hours at 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Vendors, kids' activities, and draw prizes are also available on-site throughout the day.
