Hulu to become the official streaming home of FX Networks starting next March, Disney+ will launch on Amazon Fire, Samsung TVs
Disney acquired control of Hulu last May, when it struck a deal with Comcast to buy the one-third share of the streaming service that it didn’t already own. Since then, the Burbank entertainment giant has sought to position HuluCEO Bob Iger announced the FX news Thursday, during Disney’s fall quarter earnings call with analysts, in which he also trumpeted the forthcoming launch of Disney+ and subscriber gains at another of the company’s streaming services, ESPN+, which now boasts 3.
Disney+ will launch in the U.K., France, Germany, Italy, Spain and other companies in Western Europe on March 31, Iger said. Disney’s streaming services were the highlight of the fourth-quarter earnings call, where the company beat Wall Street’s expectations. It reported adjusted per-share earnings of $1.07 versus the consensus estimate of 95 a share. Revenue for the quarter ended Sept. 28, reached$19.1 billion, compared with the anticipated $19.04 billion, according to a consensus of analysts polled by Yahoo.
