by Andrew FreemanThe I-35 Capital Express Central Project would widen the highway across the eight-mile stretch from U.S. 290 to State Highway 71.
Dozens of concerned residents took to the podium Monday worried about the potential air quality impact of widening I-35 through Central Austin from US 290 to State Highway 71. The motion failed, with a representative from the Texas Department of Transportation saying TxDOT is well-equipped to implement any study findings.
"We are entering this decade of infrastructure here in Austin with the airport expansion, with I35, and by building a new light rail through the middle of our city," Fuentes said. "So it's important that we are coordinating and doing everything we can to mitigate the impact."
