The Helliker family acquired season tickets in 1967. They’ve seen the good, the bad and the ugly.
During my 1970s adolescence, I dreaded those autumn Sundays when the Kansas City Chiefs played at home. My father held two season tickets, and when he couldn’t find a friend to accompany him, that burden fell upon me or one of my brothers.
We fought over whose turn it was to waste a Sunday afternoon watching maybe the worst team in football from two of the worst seats in Arrowhead Stadium. The weather always seemed miserable above Arrowhead, even when it was glorious across the rest of Kansas City.
