Freezing rain fell on Ottawa throughout the day on Saturday and a patchy drizzle is expected to continue into Sunday. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Freezing drizzle can produce thin, hard-to-detect layers of ice,' Environment Canada says.
The City of Ottawa says its crews are treating sidewalks, arterial roads and the winter cycling network. A freezing rain warning is in effect in western Quebec, including Gatineau. A weather warning issued in Ottawa on Friday evening has been lifted.Environment Canada calls for a high of -4 C with periods of freezing drizzle tonight. Sunday will have a high of 6 C and a 30 per cent chance of showers or drizzle. Approximately 5 to 10 millimetres of rain are forecasted on Sunday afternoon and into the evening. The unseasonably higher-than-normal temperatures will continue through Monday with a high of 5 C and a 60 per cent chance of showers. A low of 1 C and a 30 per cent chance showers.are expected overnight. The average temperatures for this time of year are a high of -5 C and a low of -14 C, according to Environment Canada.
