Free artist talk comes to Burnaby celebrating weaving, knotting, twisting fibers

Artist Damla Tamer will speak at Burnaby Public Library this weekend.

Join Vancouver-based artist Damla Tamer at Burnaby Public Library this weekend with a free artist talk celebrating her exhibition Solidarity of Fragments.

The exhibition by the Burnaby Art Gallery has run since October and features Tamer's work "weaving, knotting, twisting, packing, unravelling and dissolving fibres." It's part of the gallery's offsite exhibition program at Bob Prittie Metrotown Library which allows emerging and local artists to present their work to a wide audience.

Tamer, originally from Turkey, also explores the rise of neoliberal authoritarianism in Turkey and its relation to global movements and the evolution of forms of civil protest and resistance, according to the city's website.Artist talk in Burnaby When: Saturday, Dec. 14 from 2 to 3 p.m.Cost: Free, no registration required
