Politicians are being urged to get to work on implementing Northern Ireland’s Climate Change Bill after recent extreme weather highlighted the ‘need for urgent action’.

“Extreme weather over recent weeks should be a wakeup call to us all that the climate and ecological crisis is here and is here to stay,” says Mr McKay. “Months have passed since the Assembly election in May, and this must be an added impetus to focus on the implementation of the Assembly’s Climate Change Act,” he said.

Environment Minister Edwin Poots said last month he was “delighted my Executive Climate Change Bill has now received Royal Assent”.
