The Astros use “health and safety protocols” to describe anything COVID-19 related, but it’s unclear whether any of the men tested positive. Espada, López and Firova also missed games on Thursday and Friday. Murphy joined them on Saturday. No players were impacted. Eric Niesen, the Astros’ minor league pitching coordinator, filled in for Murphy. Class AAA Sugar Land development coach Wladimir Sutil continued to coach first base in López’s absence. Houston also moved catching coach Michael Collins from the bullpen into the dugout and brought Class AAA Sugar Land bullpen catcher Caleb Nunes to the big leagues as a bullpen catcher.
