Shluv House is the latest, and thanks partly to Le’s audience, it has achieved fast relevance since its launch two months ago—and scale: collectively some 50 million fans, placing its reach behind only Hype House. It also has the distinction of being diverse in race, a criticism of other collectives: All of the five founders are people of color. And Shluv House bears unique status of having almost certainly the youngest-ever member in the—admittedly short—history of collab houses.
Le’s presence on TikTok stretches back to 2016 when the app was called Music.ly . Shluv came together this spring after Le met cofounder Michael Uy, 20, through a chance meet: Both were on separate trips to Hawaii a few months earlier, and a mutual friend realized that, putting them in touch. Uy was working as in the music industry helping manage and create content for acts like up-and-coming hip-hop artist 24KGoldn. “We just kept in contact,” Uy says.
The guys have tried to stick to their assigned roles. Gonzalez is the videographer. Romero and Le, the performers and content creators. Le tries to keep their videos adhering to a few blunt rules: follow the trends, create stuff that makes people smile, collaborate widely.
