The City of Fort Worth and a woman whose 2016 arrest led to questions over police brutality have reached a settlement, according to the woman's lawyer.
Fort Worth agreed to pay Jacqueline Craig $150,000 to settle the matter, said Lee Merritt, the attorney for the Craig family.
This follows the federal court of appeals decision last week overturning the district court and finding Officer Martin had qualified immunity for his actions and had not violated use of force or any law. Merritt says in terms of resolution for the family its disappointing, but credited the effort of the city to come up with a reasonable settlement in a show of good faith rather than go to trial.
Of note, this technically does not resolve claims against Martin directly; however, Merritt said he will file to also drop the claims in that part of the case.
