SaltWire's Atlantic regional weather forecast for October 17, 2023] | SaltWireMETEGHAN, N.S. — Nova Scotia will be adding 47 temporary long-term care rooms for seniors in Digby County with renovations to the former Villa Acadienne in Meteghan.

The building, formerly home to 86 residents, was replaced by a brand-new 96-room facility on Sept. 15, which saw all 86 seniors moved in as well as 10 others who had been placed on a waitlist.Renovations are expected to improve infection control and will begin in the coming weeks with 28 rooms expected to be open by winter’s end and 19 more in the spring.

Temporary rooms will be used to support seniors while eight other facilities in the area will be replaced, adding 60 new single rooms to the total number of long-term care spaces in the county by 2027.
