Toronto police confirmed in a statement that an investigation was being conducted by members of the city\u0027s financial crimes unit
On Tuesday, Toronto police confirmed to the National Post that former Unifor President Jerry Dias, who stepped down from his role in early March, is now the subject of an investigation.
Initially tweeting on Feb. 16 that he was temporarily stepping aside due to health issues, and less than a month before he announced his retirement, the circumstances of Dias’ departure remained murky until March 23. On that date, Unifor publicly accused him of accepting $50,000 from a supplier of COVID-19 rapid tests.Article content
The union said they asked Dias to participate in their investigation, but Dias stated he declined to take part on the advice of his physician.
