“ played the position for the first time last year in college, then transitioning into the league playing it,” Izien. “I’m still learning a lot, that just comes with the ends and outs of playing a position, and Coach Bowles is doing a really good job teaching me. ... a genius, you know, defensively, how he schemes up his calls and stuff like that. Getting the chance to learn under him, I’m learning a lot of ball.
Izien started 40 games at safety for Rutgers across the last four seasons, including 24 of the Scarlet Knights’ 25 games in the past two years. Thefinishes his college career with 303 tackles, 19 passes defended, 15.5 tackles for loss, four interceptions and three fumble recoveries in 50 appearances.
