A former chief executive officer of the IWK Health Centre is scheduled to have her retrial on a charge of fraud over $5,000 next fall in Halifax provincial court.

Kitch stood trial in provincial court in late 2021 on charges of fraud and breach of trust by a public official. Kitch spent one night in jail before a Nova Scotia Court of Appeal judge granted her bail pending appeal. This February, Kitch re-elected to have her retrial heard in Nova Scotia Supreme Court by a judge alone. Trial dates were set for February and March 2025 before it was determined the Supreme Court had no jurisdiction to hear the case, sending it back to provincial court.Kitch resigned as president and CEO of the IWK in August 2017 after an independent audit determined she had used her corporate credit card to pay for about $47,000 in personal expenses.
