But at least one former wiseguy is counting himself in the corner of the beleaguered former prosecutor and Donald Trump. He thinks they’re being unfairly persecuted using the Mafia’s kryptonite — the RICO statutes.“They’re being treated no different than I was,” John Alite, former Gambino crime family hitman-turned-canary,Alite knows of what he speaks. He pleaded guilty in a federal court in Florida to RICO conspiracy charges. The feds got him on two murders and a treasure trove of other crimes.
A Georgia grand jury indicted Trump and 18 co-defendants, including ex-New York City mayor Giuliani, over attempts to overturn the former commander-in-chief’s Georgia loss in the 2020 presidential election. “The reason why I am speaking up for Giuliani and Trump is because they’re not me. They’re not guys that did the wrong thing. They have no business being treated like this,” Alite said.
