David Featherby, who died June 30, was Victoria’s harbourmaster between 1986 and 2015.
A memorial flotilla led by the Coho passenger ferry will pay tribute to former Victoria harbourmaster David Featherby on Thursday afternoon.
Featherby was initially made harbourmaster on contract and in 1994 became a Transport Canada employee. He had been working at Fisherman’s Wharf since 1981 when the federal government hired him to clean up what had become a rough end of town. Ryan Burles, president of Black Ball Ferry, which runs the Coho ferry between Victoria and Port Angeles, Washington, said Featherby cared deeply for the harbour and the city.
