Kim Wallace, one of three chief administrative officers with the City of Chestermere, assaulted an underling, court hears.

Sarah Willgress testified she was frightened by the conduct of Kim Wallace, the director of corporate services for the City of Chestermere, during a group meeting last Jan. 13.Willgress said she was sitting in a chair in an office with three members of her communications team when Wallace entered the room and began berating her and the others.

Wallace, 56, then stood over her and started screaming at her, she told Crown prosecutor Kaitlyn Perrin. She said at one point Wallace forcefully poked her with two fingers in her right shoulder before retreating to her office.“It was jab, jab,” the witness said, illustrating the movement with her own right arm and hand.

About 10 minutes later the senior city official returned, swatted Willgress with a backhand across the shoulder and told her to come into her office. Willgress said she reluctantly followed her, but refused Wallace’s request to sit down, fearfully maintaining a grip on a doorknob once the door was closed.Sign up to receive daily headline news from the Calgary Herald, a division of Postmedia Network Inc.By clicking on the sign up button you consent to receive the above newsletter from Postmedia Network Inc.
