Joined by six others, including former Nordiques and Avalanche GM Pierre Lacroix and Caroline Ouellet, who won four Olympic gold medals.

We apologize, but this video has failed to load. The Canadiens traded Turgeon to the St. Louis Blues — along with Craig Conroy and Rory Fitzpatrick — on Oct. 29, 1996, in exchange for Shayne Corson, Murray Barron and a fifth-round pick at the 1997 NHL Draft .The Buffalo Sabres selected Turgeon with the No. 1 overall pick at the 1987 NHL Draft. Turgeon’s best season was 1992-93 with the Islanders, when he had 58-74-132 totals in 83 games.

While Turgeon is a Hall of Famer, the door remains closed on his former Sabres teammate Alexander Mogilny, who had very similar career numbers. Mogilny played 990 games , posting 473-559-1,032 totals . Mogilny’s best season was 1992-93 with the Sabres when he had 76-51-127 totals, finishing five points behind Turgeon while playing six fewer games.

Like Turgeon, Mogilny never won a Stanley Cup. Also like Turgeon, the only individual award Mogilny won was the Lady Byng Trophy in 2002-03 and he also played in four All-Star Games. Ouellette was a star on the international stage with Team Canada and she also won four Clarkson Cups as a player — in 2009, 2011 and 2012 with the Montreal Stars and again in 2017 with the Montreal Canadiennes. The Montreal native is now an associate head coach with the Concordia Stingers. Last month, Ouellette was inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame in Tampere, Finland.
