Bruce Burrell, who served as the chief of the Calgary Fire Department from 2005 to 2014, has died.

In a statement, the Calgary Fire Department remembered Burrell as "a dedicated leader whose contributions to our fire service community will be remembered by those whose lives he touched. Our deepest condolences and warmest thoughts go out to Bruce's wife Jennifer, their family, friends and all his fire service colleagues."
