The two men have plenty of work to do this offseason, including determining whether or not to sign Jackson to a long-term extension.
Jackson is currently at odds with the Browns for not sharing with him during the hiring process what he believes was their plan to tank in those two seasons to get a more favorable position in the NFL Draft. Jackson is also contemplating joining fired Dolphins coach Brian Flores’ class-action suit over unfair minority hiring practices in the NFL.
Diemert went so far as to post on Twitter that the Browns paid Brown, Chief Strategy Paul DePodesta, then Vice President of Player Personnel Andrew Berry and Jackson to lose games.. “@NFL and @nflcommish knew about this and covered it up. “I think if anybody has been around our facility, they know how silly that is,’' Brown said during preseason of 2016. “We want to win, our expectation is . Just because we have a younger roster doesn’t mean we’re at all trying to lose. Brown kicked off his tenure with the blockbuster trade of the No. 2 pick in the 2016 draft to the Eagles, who selected quarterback Carson Wentz. The Browns received the No. 8 pick in that draft, selections in the third- and fourth-round, a first-rounder in 2017, and a second-rounder in 2018. The Browns kept trading the picks for more selections, but failed to do much with the gift that kept on giving.
